The Digital Artist: Making Music Videos

This post was provided by our friends at Daddy Van Productions, a live concert video production company. Recently, Chicago-based hard rock band, Disturbed enlisted Charlie Terrell and the Daddy Van team to write and direct the video to the lead single off Asylum, the band’s fifth LP. “The Animal” video is a dark, eerie video [...]

A Profile of Digital Artist Charlie Terrell

This post was provided by our friends at Daddy Van Productions, a live concert video production company. Charlie Terrell is an unconventional artist. Coming up in Los Angeles as a musician, playwright, and painter, he’s developed a very unique style that combines several cultural elements, digital alchemy, disparate artistic movements, and a whimsy for guerilla [...]

In working with classic sports producers Margate Entertainment, we here at Totalvid have been getting to know the sports collecting community a little bit better. And we’ve been wondering: are they online? And if they are, how are they collecting? So we reached out to some collectors associations and other groups dedicated to finding and [...]

From the Other Side of the Screen #4: In Defense of James Lacy

We've heard the heresy, the smears, and some of the backlash Lacy has received throughout his tenuous career as a martial artist. Despite all his detractors, however, there are folks out there who like the guy. According to his website, Lacy has awards from every San Diego mayor from 1981 to 2000. That's saying something in itself. But more to the point, people can't just record videos and then get them produced by what was at the time the world's premiere martial arts video production company. You've got to have some clout. Panther, a now-defunct martial arts video production company, decided to work with him and produce and distribute his videos on the 18 Daoist palms. Lacy has nothing but good things to say about the folks at Panther (see video 6 at the 4:40 mark, streaming at Totalvid) and apparently they saw good things in him as well.

From the Other Side of the Screen #3: The James Patrick Lacy Mystery, Part I

After speaking volumes about his broken childhood and the time the got hit by a train while dropping acid, even purposefully getting himself sent to a mental institution, the interviewers asks a pertinent question: Does he feel any regrets? To this Lacy responds: "Regrets are for sissies. I am only passing through this playground called earth."

Pre-natal exercise, especially that includes pilates and yoga, is widely encouraged by physicians and health experts.
From the Other Side of the Screen #2: The Rise of MMA and the Fall of the Sport of Boxing

But what really accounts for the rise in MMA popularity? Certainly it's not because of the clothes associated with it or how many movie stars the sport spawns. Personally, I think it has to do with the sport's inherent violence. People like the subversive and when MMA came out to the public, there was some serious backlash...
